 Dueling Rules
« Thread Started on Aug 17, 2005, 5:49pm »

The Portals to the Other Realms are generally the fields created to engage in Duels, battles between two individuals, sometimes more, usually to the end; but they are not restricted to these areas. Duels can happen anymore;

in the middle of a RolePlay, during a Tournament, or even specifically pre-planned between the combatants. Just open up the thread, make your challenge, and away you go!

But.. what is a duel? It is where (usually) two RolePlayers can put their skills to a primitive, and more basic form of RolePlay; single combat. This centers around a sequence of Turns; each Turn, these players perform

various defensive and offensive movements, both in reaction to their foes, and in an attempt to outwit and defeat their enemies, by inflicting that one, single, final, killing blow. Technically, it is here where the sites name really shines; it is within these duels that the so-called 'Last Battles' really take place. It is these battles that are ending. These are the final ones the site speaks of so often.

Rules are difficult for such dueling systems. There are no referees on the battlefield, no illegal move, very little definition of what is 'right' and what is 'wrong', especially those which stay similar between two people. Some duelists may wish to use their own set of rules and laws; perfectly acceptable. If there are any rules you wish to be listed here for dueling, then I will allow it; just PM myself, or eXileD, and we shall add them up straight away. In no way does it make these rules 'official'; in our view, all rules are official, if there is someone willing to use them! This listing just gives a comprehensive and detailed list to the more common of the rules on our fair site, a quick and easy reference.

I guess now you want to duel then, huh? Well, go for it. Start up the thread within the various boards. State the competitors names within its title, or just leave it as an Open Challenge, if you are that desperate for a fight. PM your preferred victim, pass on the link, and away you can both go. A quick mention of the rules, perhaps some story/RolePlay posts, and the action can begin. Limit it to two people, or have a collosal free-for-all involving large groups of people; Winner takes All! It is entirely your choice. All I can say is; Good Luck.

Current Dueling Systems

The Three Rules

The Golden Rule:

Attacker declares the action; defender declares the result.

~Can't stress this enough. No auto hits, no god-modding. The attacker attacks, the defender defends, then retaliates, and so on. Simple enough to understand?

The Silver Rule:

You Are Not Invincible!

~Admins and Mods shall intervene if something suspect is going on. You cannot dodge everything. You cannot control anothers movements. YOU ARE NOT GOD! You shall die, you do get tired. Of course, this is an entirely-free RolePlay site, so limits are nowhere near your average run-of-the-mill RolePlay site; the limits are defined by the opening poster. Do not push these limits; they are the law! Besides, if you are all-powerful, why even bother?

The Bronze Rule

Be Descriptive

~Use all your imaginative skills. Duels should push you to the limits of your creativity, make you think in every possible direction to get the finishing blow on your opponent. But dont forget, if you launch an attack against

your opponent, and he says nothing about it in his post, you can say it hit (overwrites the other two rules). It shall be checked by an admin, but, yea.. NO SINGLE-LINERS!!!

A man with the mask on a mountain,
Holding the cross in his blood covered hands,
Watching the symbol with respect,
Praising the lord for victory...
